I remember my buddy building a Laser and an Acrostar with Super Tigre 60's. He made a deal with another guy to build them if the other guy bought the stuff. They flew them for some time before their ultimate demise. That is just how I remember them comng out of the box.

I have an untouched VooDoo in the box. I noticed one on Ebay with a BUY NOW price of $350. Wow ! I had no idea it might be worth that much.

Over the years, I had several EZ airplanes. They flew great, but did tend to get wet inside the nose.

Hey, just discovered I have a spare red plastic cowl for a Bud Light Laser 200 (see my earlier photos in the thread for the plane) if anyone needs one. No decals; appears to be the thick red plastic like my original that didn't survive. PM me if interested.

Just found this thread.

Back in the 80's my dad flew for Northwest Orient Airlines (now Northwest, now Delta) on the 747. Anyway the old geezers in my R/C club in Florida didn't want a snot nose kid around until they found out Dad could get EZ ARF's, OS Engines, FUTABA radios for a song! The yen was very weak against the dollar (not like now) so he would carry models back from Tokyo. He got me the Laser 200 with an OS 4 cyl twin, I had one of the first PCM 8 channel radios, but my favorite was the 1/3.7 Christen Eagle...we had the OS twin in it, cost us about $200 USD!

I had the following

.40 size Christen Eagle II.....flew like crap, was heavy
.45 sized Laser 200 (Leo colors) FLEW GREAT!
.45 Chipmunk
.45 Pitts Marion Cole colors
1.20 size Bud Light Laser
.45 size Extra 230
1.6 Christen Eagle I....an AWEOME PERFORMER

I loved those kits, and its a shame they do not come back in some way or form. I know there was a guy in the 90's collecting them in NY. He had them all, even some rare ones like a PT-19. I had the chance to see the visit some hobby shops in Japan but I couldn't find any.

Beautiful EZ Laser Union. I'm sure Leo L. would be very happy to see it. Pls post your flight report, even though we know how well it flies.

Scott

The 1/3 scale eagle cost almost $1000.00 retail back then. [X(] I stumbled on a NIB 1/3 scale EZ eagle about 3 years ago and only paid $350.00. The lady that was selling it had no idea what she had. I offered more, but she did'nt want it. The kit boxes were still sealed from the OK factory, and these boxes were in another set of factory shipping boxs that was still sealed. I still can't believe I found one in that condition. I'm still saving it for a special time, but I'm gonna fly her one day. I have a NIB OS 300 twin ready to be mounted in her as well. I could still kick myself for selling off alot of my EZ and Pilot kits collection several years back. I wish I still had them.

Sounds like you got a good deal Sj3cub.

Heres a few pictures taken from a 1983 review of a laser 200 featured in Model Airplane News.

That Laser brings back memories of my Bud Light version! Another guy in my club back then had a Box Fly 40 with a piped Supertiger 45 on it, and man would it scream!

LOL

About 3 years ago, I bought several EZ airplanes from the LHS that had been languishing on the shelves for 15 or so years. The owner asked if I planned on building them. I said no, just to have. I don't think he got it. Then my wife found them stashed. I repeated the response to the LHS guy to her. She didn't get it. But now, vindicated! This thread is awesome.
