Try bobsairdoc.com

I got the Spacewalker 11 (2 str.) in yellow/blue, but I believe he has red and yellow as well.

Cheers,
Dave.

Anyone know are the wires? on the tailplane cables, solid rods or the aerofoil type, I have a pic of the attachment at the finn on the fullsize but hard to make out, also has anyone got a pic of the attachment on the tailplanes themselves.

OK, I know it's been "YEARS" since I posted about my 1/3 Scale Spacewalker. Well, I wanted to give you guys the quick story. Got burned out on the build, started flying more, new projects etc. Well, I am back at it. I started back a few weeks ago. The fuse is covered, elevator and rudder covered and attached. I was messing with the engine today, but I will have to look at the plans to see how far from the firewall the prop should be. Will post some pictures later.

Default Spacewalker Update

Well, I did some work and now I have someone else finally finishing my Spacewalker. Here is the work being done by a local modeler. He does excellent work. She looks great. Hopefully I will maiden her when the weather changes.

Thanks, a lot of hands have worked on this model. I first received it from a member for $125 bucks after he received it from a widow of a club member. I worked on it pretty hard for about a year. Stripping it, hacking out the over building etc. Then I just plain ole got burned out and other projects took interest. Started flying then I took an almost 2 year hiatus from flying and then started flying agin about 2 years ago. Started flying EDF etc and then saw this plane sitting on the side and said it needs to be finished. Took it to the local hobby shop and had them work on it for a few, but I really needed someone to paint it for me. After about 5 months, they found someone and he happens to be building a modified third scale two seat version of the Sig kit you see in the background. His was going to be cream with burgundy star burst, but after seeing the emerald green and white, he is doing his in the same scheme. We are hoping to get them in the air for my clubs big fly-in in June.

Hey Dr.-
Make sure you post some finished pictures...I have been following this thread since 2005. I have one of these new in the box. I guess it should take me about a year to finish. Looks like you've had quite a journey. I plan on using stits-lite from FMS and I like to use my own homemade stitching then cover that with 1" finishing tape. I am just finishing up a WMM PJ-295 1/4 scale biplane with all the rigging hard points, and re-cut the hinge lines to add points in the scale location. I'm stitching this one too under finishing tape.

That sounds like she will be a beauty. I will definitely post finish pictures. Ken the guy finishing it up and I have been actually almost totally identical with ideas for how I wanted to finish mine. We both have had some great ideas around certain things. We both were thinking about adding a working gas cap in the scale location. I added a hatch under the fuse with 4 bolts and he was like great idea. He cut an access whole under the deck to get to the top motor mount bolts. Removable gas tank etc. He's added remote engine ignition ground and a scale on off switch as well as scale choke switch. It's good to have a guy who is building the same model to bounce thoughts off of. Can't wait to get this girl in the air

It's done! After 15 years in the making. With 4 different builders, she will maiden this Spring. The finisher Ken will be putting on some final touches this week. I have ordered wing bags and looking for a good 1/3 scale pilot figure. Well, without further ado here goes nothing.

THANKS!!! Yes, Ken and I talked a lot about a lot of things that I had planned on doing. Some of the things I had planned on doing he loved and will put it in his plane. Some of the ideas he had, I loved and had him put in mine. We made a great team. He is doing a modified 1/3 scale twin seater. He loves the color scheme so much, he is doing his in the same scheme. The port side dashboard switch is the choke and the starboard is the on/off switch. Ken manufactured each switch. The gas cap is the actual scale location gas cap and is functional. I could not have done 1/100 as good a job Ken did on this plane.

I CAN'T WAIT TO GET HER IN THE AIR!!!!

Well, I will post field pictures soon. She has been home in the hangar for a few weeks. Everything has been completed except balancing. I have done a quick balance of her at around 5.25 inches from the leading edge without the wings on, just the center section to get a ballpark of what I need to bring to the field to get a balance. Just too big for me to do it myself and I don't have a rig at home to do it. We have a rig at the field, but also can get a few guys to help during the maiden. Those who have flown already, where are you setting your CG at? Plans state 4.5 to 5.5 for a 25% to 30% of the cord. I thinking that approximately 5.25 should be good. I just thought, I could see where it balances without any weight. Guess I will ballpark it at home.

Hopefully weather isn't bad, but I will wait until a windless day. LOL

Default Well ran some fuel.

It was a little too gusty to maiden even though it’s a big ole low wing cub. The 12 year old New in the box Z-38 ran and purred like a kitten.
