Default S2 models Super Decathlon

Hi Guys...do any of you have experience with the S2 Super Decathlon designed by Larry Sewell ? What's the quality of the kit like, is it scale looking and how does it fly ...does it come with any instruction manual ...any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Selwyn.

I picked a kit up at Toledo in the swap shop and wondering the same. I don't care for the vacuum formed cowl however. The instruction manual is included. Sorry no more information.

Selwyn,
Doesn't look like we're going find much help here? Maybe we can do our own build thread, do you need a copy of the instruction manual? I can send you a copy.

Tony ..I have not bought the kit as yet...I am now leaning towards an Exclusive Modelbau kit which I can get as well.

I know it is a blast from the past, but does anyone have plans for this beast. I recently purchased this plane flying, and want to have more information. Thank you in advanced.

Hello,
You wont be disapointed with this plane. It flies very well with a G-62. I was looking for a copy of the plans as I never got them when I got the plane. There isn't much I dislike about the plane, it is big, it has a nice wing loading, flies well in some wint, and looks awesome in the air. I just wish there were more around. I am in the process of changing the muffler to a JTech wrap a round and repairing the cowel where the exhaust did come out. I will try to get a picture sooner than later.

I bought a Fiberglass Specialities cowl and wheel pants for mine. All I need to do is build it.

Attached is the instruction manual for your reading pleasure. I checked at Staples today and the cost for reproducing is $.55 per square foot. The plans are approximately 3'X27'. You're looking at $55.00 including shipping for a set of the plans. Maybe the instruction manual will answer your questions. Let me know what you would like to do.

Tony,

I would be interested in a copy of the plans as well, if you were having them copied and would pay for your time and materials. I have not seen them, but is there sufficent former detail to scracth build?

Thank in advance.

Gordon

Is there a Blue print shop near you? I know the shop here will do plans that size for $15. I am interested tho.

Attaached are photos of the plans so you can be the judge. My opinion the plans are very detailed and one could build with ease.

No there's not, the shop closed long ago. So to summarize the copy cost is $44.55 plus 7% sales tax, USPS shipping is $6.85. If you want a set, I need a money order for $55. I'll check for other possibilities but I do believe there are none.

Tony- I'm about to start building the Super D after making some new benches for my workshop this summer....

I have a question on the appearance of the cowl....Is it a true Super Decathlon cowl with the hump in the middle leading into the spinner cone? Or smooth like a Citabria cowl?

Talk to you later.

Gordon

It has louvers on one side and round on the top to meet the spinner. The wheel pants are 13" long.

hello, tx so much for the post. people at omni models found it for me yesterday and relayed it on. i just purchased the kit recently and it was knowingly w/o the manual. it was very economical and came with a g-62 that i will be adding electronic ignition to it for convenience. thanks again pat kiley!

toni thanks so much for the bump on my message. im about 6 months away on a build yet! the big yet is the manual i obtained through information from omni didnt have anything on the wing. soooooooooooo if you have that part of the build manual that i could get/pay for id be in your debt. i still need to obtain a 80cc motor, i have a g-62 on e/i for it but that might be a bit skinny on power in a pinch. hope to hear back from you! tx pat
