I see, you need the throttle arm offset away from the carb. That's a nice looking part but if it can't be modded to fit I've seen it done another way. Bend a 3/16" wide .060" thick strip of aluminum sheet into to a "Z" or "U" shape and attach it to the existing throttle arm holes with 2-56 hardware. You can achieve any offset and throttle rod position you like.

yep and thanks I actually started doing what you mentioned. That was my last resort but I think I may end up buying a 90ts throttle linkage setup if I can ever find one . Until then I am doing what you mentioned. The purple throttle linkage screw hits the intake and diameter is too large for the carb barrel.

So I’ve been looking at o-ring kits for a Saito 72 and come across a carburetor upgrade kit which includes a spray bar and needle valve. Has anyone installed one of these and noticed an improvement?

The large one goes into the top of the carb, the small fat one goes into end of the spray bar, the thin one goes inside the clip against the carb body.

Small fat one goes here.

Is there a trick to getting the small fat one out and new one into the spray bar end?

It's called, very careful use of a push pin. At least in my case and if it's stubborn it requires two. That picture is of a 2.20 carb,a real easy one.

boy I guess, I just looked at my 82 and I thought it was a different type of carb, until I got the flashlight out, then I could see the O-ring.

LOL the thing is, no matter how hard it is to get out that O-ring, getting it out is the easy job,

getting the new one in is harder

Dave, I just sent you a PM about that carb, yes it looks new, thank you.. to add, I don't think there is a ring under it's clip, if not will there be a leaking problem there ?

Jim, there is the tiniest groove for that ring, it's just about impossible to see. The spry bar has a flat phlange that fits tight against the inside of the carb, I don't think it could leak.

I'll be slapping this money pit back together soon with a new piston ring so it should run great now.

NEW PARTS LIST:
Cam

Tappets

Piston Ring
Push Rod Cover Seals
A ton of tinkering fun

Edit: Add a carb oring kit to that list
Glowbob like you i'm surprised that dave or gary and others did'nt comment on the pics you posted of the piston crown on your fa82 (like i said before don't strip it and you'll never see it so no problems) to my untrained eye there were radial cracks coming away from the edge of the valve cutaways and radial casting ridges.I suppose you have a plan b which could be buying all the other parts for an fa82 that you don't own yet in case the piston fails at max rpm.

Davebob your throttle rod set up must suit you, like bruce i like the slotted firewall and golden rod throttle gear when your fa82 is back hard up against the firewall where they should be.

ps since when did talking about who sent who a PM and what it was about in a public forum become private??

Pete, I do use that slot in the firewall trick for the nose gear steering rod. No need to worry about that piston, it will be fine.

How many people feel like this when you open a new engine box?

Good news for glowbob!

The current 82-B piston has a machined top.
