Its tinted with a 'smoke' model car body spray. You can also use the tint sold in car accessory shops for smoking the light plastic on cars

Didn't use full power at all in all the flights, even in the 30mph wind we had. Just not needed, even going vertical, I operate the throttle so slowly open and close it gets to max height before max power. Don't take off at full power with anything I own except a P-20 powered model.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the info.

I like your clean set up and plane scheme. I ordered the green scheme and I hope it would turn out nice looking.

Anyway did you change the wheels or are they stock?

Cheers,
kekelala

It’s all stock gear. If you use a separate battery for the gear controller you must have a switch or unplug it, there is a constant drain and the battery will be flat after a couple of days. I’ve now taken a second feed off one of the Rx packs and will just unplug the BEC after a session.

So this showed up today....wow,very happy! The stock schemes just didn't do anything for me but this sure does. It will be getting a K100. I realize there isn't much to do with a pnp but I am going to take my time over the winter and get it ready for the spring. For now, just going to go back to the basement and stare at it

Nice scheme, Kevin! I actually was in the midst of deciding in between this Swiss scheme and the stock green. I chose the green. Now your photos made me feel regretted. 👍🏼

I see a few pictures in the thread of people using reflecta gold or some heat tape. What is the general opinion here? I plan to use some heat tape over the wires (mine is the pnp version with wires running in a fiberglass tube) but do i need some bvm heatshield too. Also, carf recommends having the thrust tube touch the rear top of the fuse ... any issues with that?

I’ve always used the alloy tape over wires, but the Joker has plenty of space, so pur heat is not a worry, but any unducted installation the wire needs some protection..
The cool wall should not get that warm, I’ve has no issue with my fuselage getting warm. I did shorten my tailpipe 15mm

So its best to have the pipe stop short of the fuse end for the venture effect?

Bob

No, as long as the inner is short of the outer it will draw air. I did it as I could see the soft outer pipe being damaged in transport etc. It also saved a few grams at the back end. I have no nose weight and now smaller batteries. I started with 2200 Rx packs and now I’m using 1600, plus a 2s 2700 on the ECU, this gives me the balance I want.

Yep. my favorite joker scheme so far

*A heads up for those with pnp kits ... the screws that hold the servo straps down in the stab were loose so i decided to tighten them down, bad idea! one of the screws poked through the top of the stab slightly and another one pushed up the top surface. I removed the screws, used a dremel to knock down the screw tips, and reinserted them without issue. Not too happy about that, but onward....

I think its a voltage regulator...perhaps one of the servo is low voltage, anyway should be simple enough to test..

Just in case anyone runs into this situation with a Kingtech which Inhave read about happening to a few people online...about 2 months ago I had a flameout and pump wouldn’t pump after that. Kingtech told
me to run the pump backwards by hooking up a small battery reverse polarity. I finally got around to doing it and then ran it normally and the fuel pump worked again and engine started. Either something was clogging the pump or the pump was stuck. Like I said, I am not the first person this has happened to and I saw they recommended running backwards to “exercise” it.

Hi Tumbler,

Thanks for sharing,

What " small battery" are we talking about as in Voltage wise?

Thanks,

Ed

Had an other 6 nice flights today

On last flight one of the main legs did not fully retract and after inspection found out that the leg's suspention did not fully came back to it's full lengt after compressing it.
Causing the wheel jaming on the well.

Any one has had this same issue and how to solve it?

Thanks,

Ed
