RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Ahh cool I am DrBeer (I think) on ReefCentral. I haven't posted in a long time though.

You're a shark person. I see! What kind of shark did you keep? Must have been one of only a couple of...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

You're in NZ though - you have relatively easy access to the most beautiful corals and fish in the world. You have to keep them on principle!

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Ooo got some pics of your reef? I had to take down my nanoreef (20 gal long) and my 120 when I moved from California some years ago. $5000+ into the 120, and I got the rock at a steal around $5/lbs...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Well, I wasn't trying to start a flame war, just offer some advice. Whatever you decide, do let us know how it turns out. You may prove me very wrong. God knows it has happened before! :D

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

You were mostly talking about DA50s and whatnot. Frankly, a ZDZ40, Brison 2.4, DA50 or any engine in that class on this airframe is asking for trouble and is not a good idea.

YS engines are not...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I'm going to guess that the only maneuver you really wish to perform with this plane is hovering, because I think the BCMA 26 will put the wingloading through the roof.

There is no gas engine...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Then go with a YS 1.10 or something.

I just don't think a gasser is the way to go with this particular model, especially not any of the ones you have mentioned. They're designed to haul around...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

ZDZ 40 still too big and heavy. Brison 2.4 = 40cc, and the 3.2 is 50cc, both of which are again, too big and heavy.

I would stick to glow with this particular aircraft. How about a Saito 1.25?

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I will comment on this. Don't put a DA50 on this plane. It's too heavy, it is too powerful, it probably won't fit, the ignition will be too close to your RX unless you move your entire radio set up...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

You may want to reconsider what you are doing. A DA50 (4.5lbs), fully sheeted wings etc. is going to make this bird super heavy and probably not a good flier. It's not the lightest to start with.

Central Hobbies (http://www.centralhobbies.com) has about the best control linkage setups you could hope for. I would recommend Robart Hinge Points for your hinges.

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Hey would you PM or e-mail me details of your 30% Edge? Some pics too? I'm looking for something in the 30% range for the end of the year. I was talking to my wife the other night and I'm pretty...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I'm having a hard time finding time to build my stuff too. I'm really thinking about just buying a Krill composite plane. ^^ I just don't think the wife would like me blowing $5000+ on it and the...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

What is an hdo particle board?

My door was/is perfectly flat. I used a 6' level to check it. The Celotex has some minor dips in it, which is where the little bits of unevenness comes from. It...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I almost did the MDF but went for a door instead. I may go back to the MDF and put some foam insulation or something between it and the 2x4s on my bench to absorb any minor imperfections (I don't...

Yay!

Those wings look great!

Sorry if this has been answered Tony, but what building surface are you using? I'm using Celotex on top of a cheap hollow-core door and while it's really flat,...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I'm sure the motor will be fine! Let us know how it runs today.

That stand looks a lot like the one I'm going to build this weekend to break my .91 in on.

I know you must be anxious to...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

That Gator Mount looks really well-made. Do you have any thrust angle problems or anything like that? Is the rubber holding up well? Where did you order yours from?

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Use a Pitts Muffler with some flexible extensions on it to blow the exhaust farther away from the bottom of the plane. I hate stock mufflers for 99% of R/C applications. :D

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Any particular reason you aren't ready for LiPos yet? I was under the impression that it was the "latest and greatest" in R/C battery technology. This is a genuine question as I really don't know...
