RE: WACO YMF

Hey guys. Anybody else seen this very very cool YMF-5 duet putting on a show in Germany on youtube? Terrific! Follow this link or cut/paste to your browser. They even catch each others planes on...

RE: WACO YMF

Thanks John and Anthony. I'm not used to this since I previously flew typical sport planes with constant chord and incidence. This is the first I've dealt with portions of a wing with a radical taper...

RE: WACO YMF

Good morning Anthony,

Thats probably at the root of what's confusing and that is the T/E taper I was trying to describe in my original message. The cross section of the fuse on the plans are of...

RE: WACO YMF

Hey guys,

Another queston about wing incidence for biplanes, in particular the Waco. This is my first bipe and I noticed something on the Dave Platt plans. Maybe somebody here is familiar with...

RE: WACO YMF

You're right. What the heck was I thinking? Either I've been out of the hobby too long (18 years) or I need to take a break before I start seeing pink elephants.

RE: WACO YMF

Question about wing incidence. Need to read thru this to get to my question at the end to see where I'm coming from. I never noticed this before when checking incidence with my meter probably because...

RE: WACO YMF

I'm just a few minutes north of Dayton and I'm only a few minutes from the Waco Museum in Troy. Right now they are closed until Spring. The last time I was there, they didn't have any YMF's on...

RE: WACO YMF

You're right, the one I photographed might have been a restore, but I don't know for sure. When the museum opens in the Spring, I can ask out of curiousity.

RE: WACO YMF

Yep, I do know some old, original ones had streamlines struts. I dug thru some old pics I took while at the Waco Museum in Troy, Ohio and found these. I forgot the Waco Model, but its not a YMF-5. As...

RE: WACO YMF

Hobby Lobby has a little 4 channel foamie arf Waco YMF-5 thats real tempting and cute. I think its about $160 bucks with radio, motor, and all ready to fly. If I had it, I would paint over the "Hobby...

RE: WACO YMF

Also, the houseofmoy link shown in the thread has the plans for the 1/5 and 1/6 YMF given. Maybe take the file to a copy business and they can print out full size drawings for a modest cost. The link...

RE: WACO YMF

There's a pic of it on the guys ebay listing. I think the PT-14 is the military version of a UPF-7, but I'm sure the guys here can correct me if I'm wrong.

RE: WACO YMF

I'm going to try it. Thanks very much for the info and photo. Let me know if you get a response on Alan's plane. Texasskypilot emailed me some great drawings of the 14031 plane that has a ton of...

RE: WACO YMF

John,

Would you also happen to know the full size N-strut thickness to help select the right tubing diameter and know when "I'm there" when I go to flatten it?

Thanks,
Gary

RE: WACO YMF

Making a stop is a good idea so the tubing isn't crushed too much and the shape is consistent. I might try it.

I have another question about the front cockpit on Alan's YMF-3. Would you know...

Thankyou very, very much John. You are the Waco king! Thanks for tossing in the other strut info since I'll be getting to those areas soon. As a note, and you probably know this, the plans show (at...

RE: WACO YMF

True, they are all real. Well, since this is a 1/6 kit with 1/2" wood struts, the real ones would have to be 3" wide. I'm wondering if 3" is right for the full size. Maybe the real ones are wider...

RE: WACO YMF

Good morning all. On a real YMF 5, does anyone know how wide the N-struts are? My 1/6 kit came with 1/2" wood to make the struts and I was wondering how accurate it is. The pics of real ones that...

RE: WACO YMF

Hi,

Does anyone have pics of an actual YMF 3 front cockpit? In particular, the NC14031 plane as modeled by Pica? I see a lot of pics here, but none seem to be of the old classic YMF. Does anyone...

RE: WACO YMF

I think I read or someone told me that at least on the ymf that the passenger windshield is removable and that the cover goes up over where the windshield would be after removal. This is to make a...
