If it wasn't mentioned already, I would suggest making the rudder bigger. About an inch to an inch and a half at the bottom will do.
One of my favorite planes to fly.

A 16 oz tank is too big for a 20. 10 or 12 ounce will work fine.
I would extend the rudder about a 1/2 inch at the top and 1 inch at the bottom.

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Because this isn't a 3D bird, building it super light isn't that important. I would aim for a weight that would give you good verticle performance with the 20cc, but it doesn't have to be ballistic....

My wheels are on the leading edge and not a problem at all flying off grass. I'm a novice and I never nosed over yet!

What weight are you shooting for with the DLE 20 up front?

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Just an observation here. This plane is not a 3D plane. Mine is 9.2 lbs and it flies very well powered with YS 110. A friend of mine who flies IMAC, prefers my CG Extra to his Extreme flight Extra...

It could be the cowlyou have is the issue that goldberg put in the kits at one point. My kit came with the white fiberglass cowl. It has worked very well for me.

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Cool. Where did you find an engine that runs on Miller Genuine Draft? Got to get me one of those! With that engine, have you considered how the model will balance. I orignally had a 91 FX and now...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

thanks, I'll give it a try after I move the CG back a bit. What about inverted flat spin? Love your analogy: "close her legs and then slowly spread them." Should be a lot easier than the real...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Gray Beard,
Mine is under 9 lbs with YS 110. More than enough power. I think mine is a bit nose heavy though. You say the plane flies best when it requires no down when inverted? Can't get a...

Beside using different materials, what modifications are you considering in the design? Things like enlarged control surfaces, servo placement etc.

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Oh no, the graupner tank is flexible. So I should get a Dubro? Are all of Dubro tanks seemless, or do you have to get a special type.

Thanks for the heads up!

Wrap the tank with fiber tape? Is that because of the pressurized fuel system with the YS? What other precautions are necessary with this engine?

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Lucky me. When I built the plane, the tank was put right over the Center of gravity and moved the Servos back one bay. It's a 14 oz Graupner tank. Will that be big enough for the YS 110. How much...
