RE: Goldberg Extra 300

An Extra is naked without wheel pants! lol. My originals were destroyed in that crash and I replaced with stock Super Skybolt wheel pants - they're slightly too small but work. In my crash the...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Brian, my Goldberg Extra weighs over 11.5 lbs. I covered my Extra with fabric. Sprayed thick coats of Nelsons and a heavy Enya 120R. I probably have one of the heaviest CG Extras out there. If...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

An update for my Goldberg Extra friends. The pictures are cell phone pictures and they suck, sorry about that. The fuse was snapped in half in two places but held together by fabric. One of the...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Karolh, you are correct, it won't take long to fix, particularly because Gene has already helped out big time. Thank you Gene! As everyone knows, Gene (Gray Beard) is a great guy!

And Karolh,...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Dumb fingers. On base low altitude I looked away, talking with friends. Looked back, one wing low, low altitude. I thought it was going away, made the correction and it went in. Disorientation. ...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

The attached picture is my CG Extra, fifteen minutes before crashing this past Thursday morning. Damaged, but repairable. Fuse broken. Canopy destroyed. Wing damage - 18 ribs crushed/pulverized...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Oops! Now how did that happen?

Here's an exciting picture of the Graph Tech forward rake on my garage wall. I'll take a better picture if you'd like.

gkpain,

Here's a picture of that forward rake job that should clear things up on what you should be looking for.

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Brian,

If your remodel is kicking up a lot of dust, wear a mask and if there's lots of dust with sheet rocking, I'm sure you're hanging plastic to keep the dust away from the family.

Take...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Brian, in the pictures your fiberglass parts look to be of very high quality. Good choice on going that way for the cowl and wheel pants. It'll be coming up on my Goldberg's fifteenth birthday in a...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

I liked what Gene said, we'll wait for what you're doing. I'm currently continuing the build of a Proctor Fokker E.III Eindecker with a warped wing that a friend of mine was building before he died....

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Brian, if you hold the wing at both ends and flex it, can you get the warp out of it with the flex?

As we know, wetting and drying is a standard method to remove or induce warp in wood, Gene...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Brian,

That's a total bummer about the warp. Impossible to say what exactly caused it, but there's a slight chance using wood glue was a factor. CA is instant and in terms of holding things...

Oh no! You have my full condolences and more.

True about the CG Extra, it flies on rails. I was flying my Seagull Edge 46 this afternoon and watching it on a straight and level flyby is not...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

I agree completely. I try not to write a novel on every post, and you've done an excellent job of distilling what's up. It is a sort of deep thinking thing, this seeping/absorption occurs on nearly...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

Personally, I wouldn't use 5 minute to join the wings. I've been using 15 minute mid cure for everything I've epoxied in the past three years. I think 15 minutes is enough time to seep into both...

RE: Goldberg Extra 300

You're fine.

From root ribs out to wing tips it's basically flat, but a level placed flat on one side of the wing (I assume it's flat on yours but not showing in your pictures) does result in...

Hi Qmars,

I think you should meet other people in the hobby. The AMA website has a club finder. http://www.modelaircraft.org/clubsearch.aspx Visit a club near you and make some new friends!
