I posted pics several pages back, I "sanded" a pair of foam Dave Brown wheels down to 1 inch thick, then "ground" the hubs down as well

that was me that sanded down the foam tires...,
my measurements indicated that the wheel can only be 1 inch wide in order to fit within the cross section of Rib #2

if you saved your balsa die cut sheets, you might want to trace the outline of your ribs and then overlay your wheel thickness and retract units to see the cross sections of what...

I measured the rails last night, they are between 1/4" and 5/16" below the ribs

With the air cylinder pointing towards the wing tip, Rib#5 really get hacked away, actually all the way. So I added a pair of ribs in between Rib#5 & Rib#6, which then required longer mounting rails...

the Dave Brown wheels have a plastic two piece hub with a male and female "axle" that snaps together.

some good news :D

I was able to "sand" my Dave Brown 4 inch wheels. I just laid a piece of 150 grit sanding paper on a table, grabbed the tire like a hockey puck and started scratching it back...

I went to the Toledo show this past weekend, I looked at CJM & Sierra retracts but decided to buy the Robart 531RS Retracts with the 663 Robostruts.

So far, I have not added any of the rib...

my TF P-51 kit was shipped from Tower Hobbies last week
I will be converting the kit to electric, not exactly sure which motor yet though....
