RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Mustang,

Keep going. Believe me, I know (we all do) how frustrating it gets with this kit. But, it'll all be worth it in the end. I'm looking forward to your maiden!

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Yes, I have looked at that kit, but I'm not really up to another kit build. I would much rather go the ARF route. I want to get in the air a soon as possible.

Post crash analysis.....I've...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Redwulf,

Even with a full gas tank, you think she was still tail heavy? Man oh man, to think I put weight in the tail.

I was doubting my skills after the first flight, but no longer. I...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

My goodness, Mustang. Not sure what all that means, other than the CG that the plans call for is wrong? Makes the plane tail heavy? You would think, with the popularity and age of this kit, these...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

I dont think this is a radio problem. I'm using 2.4 ghz spread spectrum. Not to mention, after she rolled she was reponding to my inputs, I just could not recover in time. The good news, once again,...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Well, I went to the field for another attempt at a flight, but it was too windy. I'll have to wait until Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning.

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

I dont wish that type of luck on anyone, but it is somewhat comforting to know I'm not alone here. I'm ready to patch the covering back together. As soon as i patch her up, she'll be ready to go! Not...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

N1EDM,

It was fairly muggy, but only about 75 degrees. I fly first thing in the am, around 830 - 900 am, if at all possible. The winds were about 10-15 mph, from the south. Upon lift off, the...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Mustang,

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

what I did was trim the leading edge (mating side) to the angle on the plans, then I cut it to the suggested length, then I lined it up on the plans. Let the outside edge hang over until the last rib...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Well, lesson learned (for me at least). I used the finger method to balance my spitfire. Turns out, I was way off. Needed 1 1/4 oz in the nose. I assume this is not going to make it any easier to get...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

Well, my spitfire is a Peonix Models and its junk! Serves me right for going with an "unknown" manufacturer. But, I just wanted a practice plane to prepare me for the P-51. I crashed...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

I thought most of the nose over issues were upon landing, not take-off. Has anyone had nose over on take off? If so, how did you fix the problem?
