RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

I use weed whacker line for the tail braces. Use small electrical eyes and crimp one end of the line and zap, feed the other end through the other end, pull snug and crimp and zap. These lines will...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Unfortunatly, I can't post pictures(wouldn't have a clue how to do it,old dog new trick syndrome!) Instead of wrapping the rubber band between the main gear wire and the small wire that is soldered...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

The stock landing gear works very well. Make sure when you solder it together you rough up the wires where they are to be joined and wrap the joint with lots of copper wire.
Stay-brite solder works...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

no disrespect, but a Spacewalker is a scale type plane. In my humble opinion it does not look good going fast. Perhaps a different kind of plane may better suit your aspirations.A SW looks best...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

an 18/8 on a G38. 23lbs is right in the ballpark for weight. It will fly in a very scale manner and do all scale manouvers just fine....no hovering:):)
Cheers, Dave.

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

stab span is 30 in. Centre section span is 24in. Sounds like it will fit your trailer.

Cheers, Dave.

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

one of the guys in our club has an OS 300 twin in his s/walker. Sounds great, and has plenty of power for scale type manouvers etc.

Cheers, Dave.

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

forgot to mention that the 1/3 Balsa USA floats are too big for the 1/3 S/W/ On the S/W the length from the tailpost to the back of the prop is approx 63 ins,[depending on motor]
70-75% of that...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

For floats I'd go with the 45. A buddy of mine has a 1/3 S/W on floats[sullivan foam ones I think, do the job OK] with a 45.plenty of power.

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Hey gang!
.
What is the teardrop shaped bubble in front of the
cockpit? Mine has a cut out for it, but I apparently don't
get that part with this plane.

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Ron.... The rounded edges don't affect the way the plane flies. I imagine, although I don't know for certain, that the tailfeathers on the full scale were probably made of tubing.hence the rounded...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

DD Thanks for posting the pictures. It took about 2 1/2 years to build. Took lots of breaks while doing it while I contemplated my mental condition for starting a large project.
It was, however...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

we are using Q42. Zinger 18/8 or 18/10 or 18/6-10. A G38 will be perfect for mild aerobatics. It's a great plane, I liked it so much I built a 1/2 size!
Cheers. Dave.

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

the wing joiner screws don't have to be really tightened down, snug is ok. I've never had one fall out after many years of flying.

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

An 18-10 or a Zinger 18-6/10 will work well for a U.S.41 or Q42.
Cheers, Dave.

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Eftat: we have 4or5 1/3 spacewalkers here on the west coast of B.C. weight ranges between 22-26 lbs. All powered with q42, us 41 all fly exactly the same, 26lbs is no big deal for this airplane. All...
