Welcome to Club SAITO !
I always said you live and learn,but people who know me best reckon i get by just living.Thank God,individually,we will never know or experience a fraction of it all,makes life interesting and the greatest gift of all.
ps please don't think i was referring to saito 125's with the above philosophy,you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Good Jim, does it have the big box on the back? Thanks There offset baffles in the big box muffler that fill up with oil when side mounted, I drilled a hole in each one so the oil could flow out when side mounted. I side mounted it because it wanted to load up when idling as a Diesel.
PS, it should get there pretty quick.

it may have left NH today, but most likely I wont get it until tomorrow,,
yes, it's the same one as yours, with the box muffler,, LOL the funny part is it weighs with-in 2 or 3 grams of my OS 61FX (both engines rather with or without mufflers, that close), and it should turn an APC 13x8 the same as my OS 61FX turned an APC 12x6 (<10200 with the SlimLine tiny Pitts), my Great Planes 60 size ShoeString is really going to move out and climb out now, , and I'm betting it's a smoother engine too.
oops Edit> actually I flew the ShoeString mostly with the APC 11X8 at 11800 with that Pitts, so the 100 with an APC 13X8 around 10200, 10400 will be more efficient and zip along much better
I don't think I can run a 14" prop on the ShoeString, too large..
you can see the K&B's RPM numbers here (on 10% Nitro),, I have Shims coming with my engine, I plan to burn 20% Nitro in it, the same as my Saitos so I don't have to buy so many different blends,,

Dave the connection to reality debate can wait don't you agree? and it's well known that being a stubborn grumpy old coot can help sometimes when it comes to whether you think a saito 125 is a good engine,or the 115 is better.I say the 115 because it wants to giddyup quick smart instead of having the run in period that outlasts the aeroplane kit you bought it for.Here's an old pic from the seventies

I had a 1.15 for a few months but it went to the post office the day the 1.25 came out, that 1.25 went to the post office the day the newer 1.25b came out, it is more powerful than the early one. Both only took 50 minutes to break in. I'm stuck with the truth. Barry's experience was different and I accept that with "why" wondering around in my RAM. I have a 90 TS coming to break in and ring out for a friend and maybe an OS 1.60 twin. Lottsa engine stuff going on. Below is the very 1.15 I had.

This is what I wrote about the 1.15 on July, 7th 2008.
7/17/2008I just received and broke in a new Saito 1.15 standard engine, a harbinger of a pleasant experiencs was that it started on the first backflip after priming. I did my standard of 10 minutes at each 1,000 rpm steps starting with, 10 minutes @ 4,000 rpm
10 minutes @ 5,000 rpm
10 minutes @ 6,000 rpm
refilled tank set low speed needle for decent idle
5 minutes @ 6,500 rpm
10 minutes @ 7,000 rpm with a couple of short runs to full throttle.
Fuel===WildCat 2/4 cycle 15% nitro with 18% ful synthetic.
GlowPlug=Stock Saito SS
Prop===Graupner 15x8
RPM one click rich of absolute peak==8,500
Today
Prop====APC 15x8
Max RPM=====8,650
This is a very pleasant, easy to run and smooth engine, no hiccups, no smoky midrange. The Low Speed needle is now 2.5 turns lean from factory setting. Final adjustment ended with idle in picture #2 where it would idle idefinitely and rev wthout hesitation.
Pic. #1 is yesterdays idle
Pic. #2 is todays idle
Pic. #3 is engine size stamped on end of muffler, a first.
The muffler was spotless after yesterdays and todays runs.

Good test and figures for the 115.Could you post a vid of the 90ts when you run it,a flying friend has a nib one he is yet to fit to a fournier motor glider and that saito twin should be a perfect match for that airframe.It's also my favourite looking and sounding saito twin except for the fg57 in my edge 540v3.
Is the weather starting to improve over there yet? re motorcycle riding.They don't sell any snow plows over here so we ride year round.Looking forward to the york motorcycle show which is held out east of here.It's a couple of hundred kays each way and the cops always seem to get better at playing hide and seek,adds a bit of spice to the day.

OF, I just may hit on your idea, "buying the Worlds Model Mustang Sport Racer for my Saito 100 Twin", I would like something classically more vintage but that Mustang is the only plane out there anywhere close to what I am looking for, for my 100 Twin

I think i know what you mean the 100 twin you have should suit it well,don't worry if people look at that type of aeroplane and say 'it looks hot' they are capable of flying very slowly with good control...and they do look hot it's real eye candy.I'll post a pic of my 55" midget mustang with the 115 in it,it's made by cmpro and they do fly slow nicely when you need it on approach.It's bloody quick too and at full throttle in a dive will rip the prop tips and make a boom,it's neat

say Saito guys,,, mark me up for 2 Saitos, a 100, and another 100, one is the FA and the other a Twin, woo hoo,
the FA I just got it 30 minutes ago, it's sparkling clean NIB, I just oiled it, but later I have to take the Rocker Covers off and oil more,,, god, now I need 2 more planesLOL

Hi guys
i have four Saito 82 comeing in and the guy who is sending them to me is less then impressed,he likes the 72 much better what could possibly be wrong with the 82. I do know one had a 12X6 on it and the throttle stuck wide open for 10 minutes tell it ran out of fuel. That one has low compression. the others I don’t know yet. I kinda can’t wait to get them and make them run great and make him go darn.

Cap, the .82 for being a sort of short stroke engine is a real torquer, and is a fine engine, I have an empty .82 crankcase, I keep thinking that I should buy some parts and fill,it up.
