My Saito 82 has a really crusty muffler but the one on my 100 is a lot cleaner.
When they get *really* bad I'll just take them off and do the crock-pot/anti-freeze thing to them, then they'll be good for another couple of years.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I got some "PTFE Thread Seal Tape", which I'm guessing is that Teflon Tape you guys were talking about, so I just wrap it around the thread once tightly and screw it in normally?
Wrap It tight, loose, once, twice?

edberg,
You should apply teflon tape two complete wraps around the threads in the same direction you would screw on the jamnut. Install as normal. Check the package to see if it is teflon tape. Teflon tape can be found at any hardware store. It is usually white.

Hi, before I scan through 405 pages of posts can someone tell me if this thread contains a chronology of Saito single-cylinder engines? I'm interested in learning the order in which all the various models were released: which models are the oldest, newest, ect.
Thanks,
David

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Hi everyone, You could say that I am joining Club Saito with both fe, er cylinders. I am in the process of purchasing a 90t. The older one with the V rockers. It will have a home on my good ol' Blue Max. It flies around now with a magnum 52 4stroke. But the 90 twin will really liven it up. Any way to run longer exhaust pipes on the twin? I have a buddy at a welding shop who has some tubing and I thought it would be neat to have a shiny polished pipe along each side of the plane. Sorta like dual exhaust side pipes on a car. Will I still need to add a pressure tap to one pipe? Will it hurt to have the pipes extend back to below the wing?
Just tossing ideas up to see what flies.
See ya,
Rod

There's no direct chronology of Saito's in this thread.
I'll get things started but don't have dates. These are the singles. This may be out of order? I stand to be corrected. It will get things going? Naturally there are variations to these as time and evolution took it's toll?
Corrections contributed by others are in read?
10cc two stroke (1955)
30 open rocker separate head. (1979)
30 open rocker one piece cylinder
Saito 40 separate head (1980)
Saito 120 (1982) There were some variations on the carbs so there very well may have been a MK I and a MK II?. Also they've been around a while and some parts from the 120S will fit under certain conditions, so you may see engines that are half 120 and half 120S?
Saito 40 one piece cylinder MKII?
Somewhere in here the 65 came around?
Saito 80 The early ones had high compression
Saito 45
Saito 45S
Saito 50 The 50's have been around a while. There are two different Cylinder designs, two different carbs, two different back plates, two different crankshafts, Three different crankcase designs, and about 6 different mufflers.
Saito 91S
Saito 120S There are two different designs of the intake pipe on these
Saito 150S The early ones had high compression (1991)
Saito 56 (1996) Even the 56 had three different crankcase designs
Somewhere right in here the 30 as we know it now came about? 1998
Saito 180 (1999)
Saito 72 (2000)
Saito 100 (2001)
Saito S40 (2002)
Saito 82 (2004)
Saito 220 (2005)

Saito 62 (2007)

90T
130T
60T

100Ti
200Ti
Radials
325R5
450R3
170R3
90R3
I'll edit this list to correct any errors as they are pointed out?

That 1982 just about had to be the old style straight 120?

The 180 I don't think came out until around 1999?

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Jim, I went through some of my receipts, most of these were bought when they first came out with a couple of exceptions.
.56======9-9-96
.30s=====12-14-98
1.00 GK==12-20-01
.82 GK===5-17-04
1.25 GK==12-27-05
.62=====12-18-06
.50=====12-6-02, one of the last.
I no longer have the receipts for the .72 or .91 GK nor do I have the engines any longer.

Jim,
Yes, that was a typo on my part. That is where I got my information too.
