Hey thanks GaGeeBees, I thought she'd go ok, only problem is the 500 grams of lead I'll have to put in the nose to get her to balance hehe.
Thanks again spud

Yes, I know what you mean. I used a Higley Heavy Hub on the prop and mounted the battery on the firewall and still had to bolt some lead onto the engine mount rails to get it all to balance.

Thanks, Ram and Larry. I've always used the pressure tap, and seeing as there's no other "pump" available on the engine anywhere, I figure I always will. Crankcase pressure is a real roll of the dice in my opinion, as it's usually quite a small amount of pressure. The muffler pressure tap gives a real-time response to throttle changes.
Spudandcat, I think the TigerMoth will fly very well with that 100. Tigermoths are known for their "leaf-in-the-wind" type of flight, flying it with an aggressive motor often just doesn't look right. I dare say the Saito 1.00 will be more than scale flight would require.

G'day Fellas, how do ya's reckon my Saito 1.00 would go hauling a 76'' Tiger Moth around with a 15 x 6 ? The aircraft currently has a 1.80 with a 16 x 8 and well , it is a bit overpowered, and I want to stick the 1.80 in my WM 1/4 Clipped Wing Cub!. All it's gotta do is fly like a real 'Moth not go crazy. I reckon she's up to the task as the big bipe don't need a lot get her going but I thought I'd get some other opions. Thanks spud

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I am looking for a tank for my Saito 180 that cannot be longer than 4 7/8 inches , and 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The original tank was old and had a split in the seam, and spilt fuel all over the plane. So far the only tank that I can find that will fit in the space is a 10 oz tank and that will not run the Saito 180 for very long. The key dimension that is the problem is the length which is 4 7/8". I would like to get at least a 20 oz tank but cannot find one that would fit. I wondered if water bottles could be used?

Your Champ appears to be full scale?
Or you sure did a good job and also a tricky pic wit the hangar behind.
If it is full scale it appears to be a 7AC? As a younger guy I have many hours in them........learning and then later instructing.
We have one with a very similar paint job here in Creswell, OR (77S) which is still used for taildragger check out.

I learned to fly in a couple real 7AC's in the early 60's. Got my flight instructor's rating in a 7EC

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
In my 125, I was running the four stroke Omega 15%. I just went through my last jug. I have a case of 15% omega 2 stroke and was planning on using that until someone at the field today told me that it has a tendancy to gum up the motor really good after awhile. Can anyone please confirm or deny this for me.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I used to use 15% Omega 2 stroke all the time in my Saitos. It never gummed them up
It is good fuel
I now use a couple 125's all the time but I use 10% Wildcat Premium Extra

Did you notice any change in performance when you dropped to 10%? I have mine mounted in a GP Litttle Toni. Running a 13X10 and getting good performance out of it. Still have a 12X12 to try. 13X10 15% omega 2stroke=9150 rpm

I have a Saito 125 on a H9 Twist 60 using a APC 16 X 6 and another on a Great Planes You Can Do 60 using a APC 17 X 4W and a spare 125
With that kind of power on those planes, I didn't notice 10% Wildcat Premium Extra when I ran out of 15% Rich's Brew. I rarely run full throttle.
I have two more Gallons of 10% and then I have a couple cases of Wildcat 20-20. but that'll be next spring.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
What your friend may be talking about is the OUTSIDE of the motor. Omega can be a little bit gooier than the others, but that's just a matter of cleaning them after use. Running-wise it's just fine.
I presently use the Powermaster 20/20 Saito/YS 4-stroke now for all my Saitos, 20/20 is a mix that Saito now recommends. Works great, the best I've ever used, and I was a die-hard WildCat fuel user for over 10 years.. Costs a friggin' fortune, I think it's like 30 bucks a gallon.. If it didn't work so well I wouldn't pay that much for it, but the plain fact is it really IS that good. The difference for me is great response, a terrific low idle, and clean-up is as good as the WildCat was (WildCat had been MUCH better than all the others I tried). Any glow fuel is going to leave goo, so the "better" and "worse" I'm talking about is in increments of goo, and how well it cleans off after flying.
Incidentally, if you shop at Costco, they have their Kirkland Store-Brand cleaner that comes in a bottle that's like a gallon and a half with a spray bottle wrapped to the side of it, it's pretty big at any rate, and it's the best stuff I've ever found for cleaning the planes after flying, and it even takes the stuff off the motor and muffler with a little repeated spray and rub. I have Fabric and paint, film, you name it, and it cleans them all beautifully. It even removes the pesky streaks and shines up pretty well with a last pass with a mist and a polish with fresh paper towels. Oh, yeah, it costs $7.99 or something ridiculously cheap like that. I buy a big block of paper towels while I'm there so I have plenty to use for the season. My wife sneaks out to my shop and steals a roll here there and thinks I don't know it, so everybody's happy!
I guess that's it for fuel and goo removal 101 for today.....hope it was helpful!

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I have an Saito 91 that I just took apart to change its bearings. I Ordered the parts on Amazon which will take a few weeks to get to Trinidad. I was oiling up every thing to put in a ziplock bag when I noticed that if I pushed in the piston with both valves closed that the exhaust valve was letting oil out through the valve even though it is supposed to be closed. Should I take the valve out and examine it? Should I replace the valve now? I have not done this but do not think it could be that hard?

Hard to say on that one Kevin.
The valve guide could be bent thereby holding the valve crooked.
Might just be a little dirt behind it?

G'day fellas,
Installed the 1.00 in my big 'moth today and arced her up Went sweet, gonna take her out to the field tomorrow. The 1.00 with the 15 x 6 has plenty of pull so I think it'll go alright.
I taxied the fuse ( minus the wings ) around the yard hehe that was fun. Saito's rock , seeyas later

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Well just got back from the field, and the 1.00 in the 76" Tigermoth was just right! Not way to much like the 1.80 was , I feel a lot better without all that reciprocating mass bolted to the front of the bipe. With the 15 x 6 she cruised around just over 1/2 throttle and flew like a Tigermoth should. The recommended motor for this ARF is a 1.20 FS but apart from less noseweight up the front I see no reason for such sized donk ( well unless you want it to hover like it did with the 1.80 hehe ).. The 1.00 has a great idle to and she started like has a charm. The motor inverted went great as well , no need for onboard glow. I'm as happy as
