RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Cool! I'm glad everything worked out, I couldn't imagine it would be damaged. I consider what happened to it cosmetic.:D

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Tony, the issue would happen, not that it did happen.
I always isolate the servo plate with silicone that way any sharp vibrations would be removed. The only thing that gets the vibration from the...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Tony, I have no problem with the mounts but like it was said before it's just one more thing to go wrong. The only issue in my plane will be the servos and I have taken care of that. If it's built...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I am not using a soft mount. If I used a metal mount I might look into it but I have redesigned the runners on the top with bass and increased the strength of the firewall by using aircraft ply and...

What are you guys using to smooth the edges where the turtle deck meets the fuselage?

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Tony, I haven't used the Robart yet but they are on some of my planes and I plan to use them on the next Ultimate. Everyone I know that has used them swears by them.

As far as the fiberglass,...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I have two of the original Goldberg kits and they aren't much better. I personally like the laser cut look but I haven't had any problems getting the other ones out of the 'mold'. The quality of...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I hate that happened so soon Tony.

You've opened my eyes to some new equipment. I had a plane do the same thing and never did find out what happened. I never checked the switch, it's laying...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

You'll do fine. Maybe you should tell them at work that you have a new baby at home so you can leave early. LOL!

On the exhaust I had decided to just use silicone tube from the exhaust to the...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

COOL! P.S. Don't forget to turn off your transmitter (Picture 1) hehe.
Let us know how it handles with tail weight. I think I'll start at 2 1/4" and move back when I get use to it so I can get...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Once broken in, how many RPMs towards the rich side do you go once you find max RPM?

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

That's what I though yesterday, 'hey, that's a lot of smoke when it's rich; maybe I'll just run it rich and say I've got a smoke system!' ;)

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I used a Hayes. They are symetrical, strong, and it's an exact fit for the 1.25. The only thing I don't like is that the bottom is solid but I'll fix that someway so the intake gets good air. ...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

The smoke test went poorly so I used the time to run 2 more tanks. It should now be broken in.
The problem is that I connected a nipple to the exhaust where I directly connected the tygon line...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I was told to remember they like to drop out of the air if you slow down too much so if you loose the engine then head down and keep your airspeed up. I fly warbirds so it's second nature to keep...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Excellent, let me know how the ground clearance is. I thought we would have problems so I got a 15x7 for break in. What RPM are you getting with the 16x8?

Everything looks great, I'm happy...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

You're right Steve, I can think of most of the mistakes that caused the damage but I can't remember any issues with the aluminum and I HATE trying to line the plastic ones up with the prop and just...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I learned on the 1.20 that plastic isn't good. I got 9500 peak out of a 15x7 APC for just a second and richened it up to around 8700 for the second tank. The first tank was all at 3500 RPM.
Can't...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I added the new nipple on the exhaust. The new one is for the tank because it's ahead of the oil outlet inside.

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

9 lbs! Ugh! Oh well they should still fly well. How did your CG turn out?
The covering looks great, I bet it will show up good.
I'm breaking in my engine today. I capped off the smoke oil...

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

I found it and got it installed in the exhaust. I used copper tubing from Ace Hardware used for air conditioning. It's a little thick though. I think I can test it this weekend.

RE: Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 build

Copying is ok, I was going to copy Imaflyer's Coke design but I think I'm going to go over board with something else.
This will be my first complex job. I'm a little worried. Are you using Windex...
